With heavy hearts, we have to announce that the main Glastonbury Symposium will not be going ahead this year. This is such a shame, especially in our 30th anniversary year, and we are very sorry, but after much consideration it is now clear we have no choice but to postpone until 2021. If you have purchased a ticket already it will remain valid for 2021 instead – see below.

Because of social distancing rules Glastonbury Town Hall is operating strict limits on numbers this summer. This would mean putting on only a small and very controlled event that would bear little relation to the Glastonbury Symposium we know and love, and it would not be cost effective. Also, many people will still be nervous about coming out, our significant contingent of overseas attendees will find it difficult to travel to the UK under new flight and quarantine rules and it is unclear which local hostels and cafes will be open by July.

The worst thing would be to push ahead with an ill-attended disappointment which might in any case risk a disastrous last-minute cancellation in the event of a ‘second wave’ lockdown. We know that some of our attendees have their own thoughts about the nature of current events, but in the face of uncertainty we cannot put our audience or staff at any kind of risk and it is simply not possible to go ahead this summer with either the Symposium or our crop circle coach tour, which we know so many of you were looking forward to.

This sad decision is not what we wanted, and we know there will be great disappointment, especially from those who have already made arrangements, but these are unfortunate times. Please accept our most sincere apologies and many thanks for your understanding.

However – two pieces of good news!:

1 – We will definitely remount our 30th anniversary Symposium in 2021, in the hope that some kind of normality will have been restored by then. If you have already purchased a ticket for this year’s event, this will remain valid for next year’s event, which will be held between 23–25 July 2021. You do not need to do anything at all and will be sent updated confirmation in the spring of 2021. If you are unable to make our 2021 dates, please contact us and we will arrange a refund for you.

2 – We are mounting a special Zoom ‘Symposium Online’ mini-event on Saturday 25th July this year! Held on the Saturday daytime of what would have been our normal weekend, this will not in any way be intended as a substitute for the Symposium itself but will help keep the flame alive with presentations, interviews and Q&A with some Symposium favourites and our very special guest Rupert Sheldrake, exploring freedom, truth and mysteries. DETAILS AND BOOKINGS NOW AVAILABLE HERE!

The Symposium will live on, as will our love of truth, mysteries and new frontiers!

Very best wishes,

The Symposium team, 20 May 2020
